The first novel of my Fairmile series, Tidelands, is now available in paperback. It is set during the English Civil War, with the country divided between Royalists and Parliamentarians, when King Charles I is imprisoned on the Isle of Wight. It was a dangerous time, especially for my heroine, Alinor, a woman living on the margins of society in the remote tidelands of south England.

'They can take against you in a moment. One cross word, and then they call for the witchfinder, and name you as a witch so as to be rid of you once and for all! It’s a crime to be poor in this county; it’s a sin to be old. It’s never good to be a woman.'

This book was a new beginning for me, and you may know from my social media posts that I’m almost finished book two, Dark Tides, which will be out in December.
