Richard III’s Book of Hours – his personal prayer book – has been digitised by Leicester Cathedral and is now fully available to view online. Access to the original manuscript in Lambeth Palace Library is restricted due to its condition – it is too fragile to go on public display. It is amazing to see how technology has enabled the opening up of texts such as this. It allows so many more people, regardless of who or where they are, to experience them and I think that is something wonderful.
The digitisation also includes a scholarly interpretation, helping readers to understand the text.
