3rd November 2015
On 2nd Dec at the Barbican there'll be a special screening of Stealing a Nation, the landmark film about the forced deportation of the Chagos islanders by the British government in the 60s and 70s. It'll be introduced by the filmmaker John Pilger, followed by a Q&A session with Chagossians and campaigners. I'm a patron of the UK Chagos Support Association and strongly support the demand that the Chagossians be allowed to return to their homeland. I would have loved to have attended the event, but I'll be out of the country. If you are in London I'd thoroughly recommend it – it's a brilliant film and the cause is an important one.
