| There is much to admire in A Respectable Trade. The book is rich in historical detail, and Gregory draws her characters with assurance… the ending of A Respectable Trade is credible, no simple task in the face of what came before. And, though it isn't superficially happy, it is satisfying, providing hope for the Coles and a feeling that the reader has ultimately been well-served. |
