The Boleyn Inheritance

From the international bestselling author of The Other Boleyn Girl, a new novel about two queens, Anne of Cleves and Katherine Howard - and the woman who would destroy them both.

Philippa Gregory’s new novel is told in the voices of three women: Jane Boleyn - only survivor of the ambitious Boleyn family, and the two Queens she served and betrayed: Anne of Cleeves and Katherine Howard.

Anne comes to England a hopeful candidate for the dangerous position of Queen of England but Henry’s instant revulsion nearly takes her to the scaffold for witchcraft as her lady in waiting, Jane Boleyn, bears false witness against her.

Jane’s candidate for the throne is her cousin Katherine Howard, a child of fourteen who captures the King’s love but soon finds it is not enough to save her from his murderous spite.

A novel drawn as tight as a lute string about a court ruled by the gallows, this is the full story of Henry’s forgotten Queens.

At a celebration at the Spanish Embassy last night (Tuesday March 28th) the Spanish Ambassador to the United Kingdom presented the award for travel writer for the year.

Philippa's husband Anthony Mason collected the award for her, as she is still recovering from a broken back after falling from her horse. Anthony took the photographs to illustrate the award winning article which was an account of Philippa's visit to the Alhambra Palace in Granada.

The trip was part of the research for The Constant Princess as the Alhamabra Palace was the childhood home of Katherine of Aragon - the Constant Princess of the title.

The award was judged by the Society of Authors: Naomi Grynn and Candida Clarke who said that the piece had a powerfully individual narrator's voice.
